What!?! No Dairy?!! But What Will I Put In My Coffee?!?

For all of you die hard coffee drinkers out there, I know that coffee was meant to be had in it's true form...black.

But for the rest of us...that live for the creaminess of a cup of coffee with milk, it's devastating to find out that we are lactose intolerant, allergic to dairy or have an intolerance/sensitiviy to dairy.

For this group, I have an amazing solution for you.....COCONUT MILK!!  It mixes in beautifully without separating and has the same texture as pure dairy cream.  Here is a pic for proof:

Soy milk just doesn't taste right in coffee, rice milk is too thin, almond milk isn't good for those with allergies and hemp milk...ugh...just no (in coffee anyway).

My fave is Aroy-D's Coconut Milk.  You can either buy it in a can or in a 1L milk carton.  I've only found the 1L milk cartons at T&T Supermarket in Toronto but the canned form can be found anywhere from Food Basics to most health food stores.  Coconut milk is a source of anti-inflammatory medium chain fatty acids and also helps to eliminate yeast.  The only trick to using coconut milk is to SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE.  We pour the can/carton of coconut milk into a glass pitcher and keep it in our fridge for easy use.  We just give it a quick stir before pouring it into our coffee, using it for cooking, baking and adding it into smoothies.

Give it a try!
